Warm Hostess – Cool Weather

April 29, 2011 – morning

Mica and granddaughter Sophia

Our B&B hostess Mica was watching the Royal Wedding when I joined her in the family living room at 6 am, just as Kate reached Will at the alter. We had a wonderful time watching the ceremony and comparing Diana and Kate’s dresses and style and admiring how handsome Will looked, and so on.

Around 8, Mica fed us a very big breakfast of eggs over easy, bacon, pan fries, dark coffee, orange juice and home made buns.

Her granddaughter Sophia arrived around 8 and after breakfast they toured us through the Tepsic hobby farm.

We met four ponies, one of which is a colt. The colt rested in its stall on straw and did not get up until Sophia clapped her hands and called his name. He bolted up and came bouncing over to the pen door.

Out in the fenced yard we saw the goat family: a billy, a female and a kid. The kid had pushed his head through a wire fence and could not get out. He bleated unhappily; his mother bleated unhappily and the billy walked nervously in circles. Sophia could not free his head but Mica was successful and there was much joy among the goat family.

Then we checked out the chickens, which are fed only corn and for that reason provide the excellent eggs which we had enjoyed at breakfast. Mica’s pride and joy is a pair of peacocks, one of which paraded for us but did not unfurl his tail.

Mica is very friendly and helpful. Her Escarpment B&B is spotless and the food excellent. It is within walking distance of a good restaurant for dinners too. Here is her link on the bbcanada.com website:

Flying weather: not great but improving. The cloud ceiling was about 3000 ft so the visibility was allowable. Winds much lower than yesterday and getting calmer. We’ll be off to Grimsby airpark to attempt a take off.
